G2 Housing Group Ltd enters administration after 12 years

G2 Housing Group Ltd, a construction company based in Waterlooville, Hampshire, has entered administration after 12 years of operation. The company, which was involved in building development and management consulting, appointed administrators Rob Keyes and David Taylor of KRE Corporate Recovery at the end of last month.

Company background and sustainability focus

Founded in 2014, G2 Housing Group Ltd was a private limited company with a strong emphasis on sustainable building initiatives. It was a member of the UN-backed One Planet Network and had a designated Director of Sustainability and Wellbeing, despite having a small headcount of around three employees historically.

The active directors included Gary Anthony Stirling, who served as chief executive officer and had multi-decade experience in the affordable housing sector, managing parallel local entities such as Landspeed Affordable Homes Limited. David Alun Rees was appointed as a director in April 2021, and Christopher John Cullen was the active director involved in corporate management.

Assets and financial troubles

Land Registry entries indicate the firm held a fixed and floating charge over a notable freehold development asset, including land on the west side of Lipson Road, Plymouth. This property asset is now part of the undertaking being assessed under the administration. The company's statutory filings fell behind shortly before insolvency, with its mandatory annual Confirmation Statement becoming overdue in May this year.

Wider construction industry struggles

This collapse follows a number of other UK construction companies entering administration. On June 18, Devonshire Homes Limited was also appointed an administrator, highlighting ongoing difficulties in the sector. The Express has contacted G2 Housing Group and the administrators for comment.
