Everton are reportedly close to securing a deal for Scotland youth international Kai Hutchison, a 16-year-old striker from Dundee United. The teenager has turned down a professional contract with the Scottish Premiership side and expressed his desire to move on.
Everton's Academy Recruitment Drive
The Blues are in advanced talks with Dundee United as part of their ongoing strategy to strengthen their academy by signing promising talents from across the UK. This approach has seen Everton acquire young players like Ceiran Loney from Partick Thistle and Braiden Graham from Linfield in previous seasons.
Competition for Hutchison
Dundee United had previously rejected six-figure bids from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Norwich City for Hutchison. However, Everton now appear to be leading the race to sign the forward, according to the Daily Record.
Hutchison joined Dundee United two years ago from Banks O Dee Albion. He has scored one goal in five appearances for Scotland Under-15s and played twice for Dundee United's B side this season. He has also trained with the first team and traveled with the senior squad to a match against Hibernian.
Recent Academy Additions
Everton have been active in recruiting young talent. Last summer, they added defenders John Dodds from Hearts and Reuben Gokah from Charlton Athletic. If Hutchison joins, he is expected to sign a scholarship before transitioning to a professional contract at age 17.
