Chelsea are yet to submit a formal bid for Maxence Lacroix as negotiations continue with Crystal Palace over a potential deal for the defender. Standard Sport understands that Lacroix is one of Chelsea’s leading transfer targets as they evaluate options at centre-back this summer.
Lacroix High on Chelsea's List
The France international features prominently on the Blues’ list of centre-back targets, ranking above candidates such as Como’s Jacobo Ramon. Strengthening the position is a priority for Chelsea, and they view Lacroix as an ideal candidate to bolster their defensive line.
The 26-year-old is currently away on international duty with France at the World Cup and is aware of Chelsea’s interest. He is reportedly open to a move to Stamford Bridge. However, Crystal Palace are under no financial pressure to sell Lacroix, who has taken on greater responsibility in the Eagles’ backline after England international Marc Guehi left in January to join Manchester City.
Lacroix's Impact at Palace
Lacroix has spent two full seasons at Selhurst Park, making 70 Premier League appearances for the club. His consistent performances have made him a key asset for Palace, who are reluctant to part with him without a suitable replacement.
Chelsea Ready to Sell Chalobah
Meanwhile, Chelsea are willing to sell one of their own England internationals this summer. Trevoh Chalobah is available for the right price, with Serie A side Como having seen a £22 million bid for the 26-year-old rejected by Chelsea within the last few days.
Palace Target Cresswell
Crystal Palace are also in the market for defenders and have opened talks with Charlie Cresswell’s representatives over a potential move. Cresswell, a highly sought-after defender, currently plays for Toulouse and has attracted interest from several clubs.
