Chelsea are reportedly willing to sign Marcus Rashford, but only on a loan deal this summer. The Manchester United forward's future remains uncertain after Barcelona indicated they would pay just £13 million for the England international.
Barcelona's Reduced Offer
Barcelona have until June 15 to trigger a £26 million 'buy' clause following Rashford's loan spell with the club. However, having already signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, the Catalan side are expected to offer only half the official clause fee—a proposal Manchester United would likely reject.
Chelsea and Other Suitors
According to journalist Simon Phillips via TeamTalk, Chelsea are open to a deal for Rashford but only on a loan basis. Barcelona are also content with another season-long loan. Bayern Munich have also been linked with the 28-year-old forward.
Wes Brown's Perspective
Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown commented on Rashford's situation: "Listen, when you get to that age, things can happen in football... It all depends on what's been said before and what's being said now, and sometimes things really can just be mutual."
Brown added: "Anthony Gordon to Barcelona was a bit of a shock to everyone, but especially to Marcus Rashford. There was a deal there for Rashy and then they go and sign Gordon who plays in the same position."
Regarding a potential return to United, Brown said: "Rashy still has a year left at United. There's a new manager in charge. I'm sure Michael Carrick will speak to him at some point... I don't think Rashy has any bad feelings toward Michael but he's going to try and do the best thing that's right for him."
Brown concluded: "If Marcus did come back, I don't think he would want to sit on the bench... If Rashford was up for that, fighting for his place, then I think it'd be really good to see him back at United."
