Celtic fans are growing increasingly frustrated as the summer transfer window reaches day 20, with the Hoops being the only Premiership club yet to make a new signing. This has done nothing to ease the pressure on the under-fire board, although Qarabag striker Camilo Duran is reportedly on their radar.
Fan Frustration Boils Over
Bill Waugh from Glasgow groaned: "Pre-season training has started and all Celtic signings are off the park. Every club has signed players. The attitude of this board beggars belief. The fans once again have forked out money for mediocrity. Once again, total shambles."
Denis Bruce from Bishopbriggs added: "Is the Celtic board determined to make Martin O'Neill walk away? They are certainly going about it the right way with the threatened exodus of players and no replacements on the horizon. It would be beyond criminal if the team were to fall at its sole hurdle of qualifying for the Champions League. That would make last season's AGM look like a vicar's tea party in comparison with this season's AGM."
Rangers' Busy Window
Across the city, Derek McInnes has added five new faces to his Rangers squad. Gary Stevenson from Newtonhill teased: "You have to laugh at the Celtic regulars criticising Rangers' new signings. If it wasn't for Rangers transfer activity, they would have nothing to talk about."
Arne Engels' potential megabucks move to Nottingham Forest has drawn ridicule from some Rangers fans. But Gordon Ashley from Ayr hit back: "I understand Chris Lowe's rage at Celtic courting £25m for Arne Engels. Celtic have taken everything from his club and now overtaking their claimed title haul, denying them £40m Champions League cash and stealing their club anthem has been too much to take. Us getting much more for Engels than they get for Nico Raskin is just the final straw."
Confidence in Rangers' Future
Lewis Fotheringham from Mount Ellen is confident Celtic's reign of dominance will end next season: "Those Rangers fans who are concerned that Derek McInnes has only won one trophy in his managerial career need to remember that he hasn't exactly been at Real Madrid. At Aberdeen, he won the League Cup and secured numerous 2nd/3rd place finishes. At Hearts, he came within minutes of breaking the Old Firm's 41-year stronghold on the Scottish title. Just imagine what he can do with a far bigger budget at Ibrox."
Dundee's Record Fee
Dundee pocketed a club-record fee after Luke Graham sealed a £2m switch to Stoke City. But Drew Ferguson from Oban said: "As a Rangers fan, I have to question why Graham would go to a team that finished 17th in the English Championship last year, or is he simply chasing the money because he will win nothing and stagnate down south like many others before him."
Scotland Manager Search
Scotland's search for a new manager is well underway after Steve Clarke's bombshell exit. Charles Maxwell had his tongue in cheek as he added: "I think I'm beginning to understand why big Stevie handed in his notice. It looks like he's had his eye on the Holland job. These are uncertain times and moves are afoot. The SFA need to get Neil McCann and Doddsy tied up before Germany come calling. We don't want to be left with England's cast-offs."
