Cardiff City Offer £750k for Defender Shane Maroodza

Cardiff City have reportedly launched a bid for FK Sarajevo defender Shane Maroodza. European reporter Lorenzo Lepore claims the Bluebirds have made an offer of £750,000 for the Zimbabwe international, who operates primarily as a centre-back but can also play on the left.

It's claimed the offer for the 22-year-old also includes a 20 per cent sell-on clause. However, Sarajevo are reportedly holding out for a deal closer to £1m.

Links Between Cardiff and Sarajevo

The Bosnian side have links with Cardiff, with Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan owning 50 per cent of the club until the beginning of this year. Maroodza made 22 appearances for the club last season, as Sarajevo finished third in the Bosnian top flight.

Maroodza's Career Path

He previously came through the ranks at Huddersfield Town, and had two brief loan spells with non-league side Bradford Park Avenue. The youngster was released by the Terriers in 2024, and would go on to enjoy a short stint with Barnet before joining Kerry Town last summer.

However, his time at Kerry would last just under a month, as he was released by the Irish side in rather strange circumstances. Indeed, he was released after making just one appearance for the club, with goalkeeper Mathyas Randriamamy also departing. In a curious statement, Kerry said of the two exits: "Unfortunately, their values and principles didn't match the standards of the club."
