Bayern Munich have reportedly won the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown, beating off competition from Arsenal and other top European clubs. The Germany international is expected to join the Bundesliga champions for a fee of around £56 million (€65 million), including bonuses.
Breakthrough in Negotiations
According to Christian Falk, Head of Football at Bild, Brown's move to Bayern is nearing completion. Frankfurt chief Markus Krosche and Bayern's director of sport have made significant progress in transfer talks, with the deal expected to be announced soon. However, with Brown preparing for Germany's World Cup opener against Curacao, the official announcement may wait until after the tournament.
Brown's Rise to Prominence
The 22-year-old left-back broke into the Eintracht Frankfurt first team during the 2024/25 Bundesliga season and has since become one of Germany's brightest young talents. His consistent performances earned him a senior Germany call-up in October and a spot in Julian Nagelsmann's 26-man World Cup squad.
Brown's versatility allows him to also play in midfield, and he has made 72 appearances for Frankfurt since joining from FC Nurnberg in 2024. In a recent warm-up match against the USA, he played 60 minutes as Germany won 2-1.
Interest from Top Clubs
Arsenal had been monitoring Brown ahead of the summer transfer window, along with AC Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester City. However, Bayern's aggressive pursuit has paid off, with the player set to join stars like Michael Olise, Joshua Kimmich, and Harry Kane at the Allianz Arena.
Thomas Muller's Endorsement
Bayern legend Thomas Muller recently praised Brown, stating he has the quality and potential to play for Vincent Kompany's side. 'When you join Bayern as a player, you have brutal competition – but he is a player who is definitely interesting,' Muller told Sport Bild.
Brown's Focus on the Pitch
Despite the transfer speculation, Brown has remained focused on his performances. When asked about the €65 million fee, he said, 'It's definitely a lot of money.' He added, 'My focus is entirely on Eintracht Frankfurt and our goal of qualifying for Europe. And then I'd love to be at the World Cup.'
Brown signed a contract extension with Eintracht Frankfurt early last year, tying him to the club until June 2030. The deal does not include a release clause.
