Arsenal are now free to pursue Juventus playmaker Kenan Yildiz after Turkey were eliminated from the World Cup. The 21-year-old is reportedly Mikel Arteta's dream target for the summer transfer window as the Gunners seek to strengthen their attack following their Premier League title win.
Arsenal's Attacking Overhaul
Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard have all entered the final year of their contracts and could be sold. Arsenal are targeting a new left winger, with Yildiz on their shortlist alongside Morgan Rogers, Bradley Barcola, and Christos Tzolis.
Yildiz, who can play as an attacking midfielder or winger, scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists last season for Juventus, though his form dipped after March. He started Turkey's World Cup campaign on the bench but later broke into the starting lineup before their elimination after two losses.
Juventus' Financial Constraints
Juventus finished sixth in Serie A and failed to qualify for the Champions League, forcing a change in their transfer plans. Former CEO Damien Comolli told La Repubblica: "We will have to sell one more player than we had planned." When asked if Yildiz could be that player, Comolli replied: "Certainly not." However, Juventus may still be compelled to sell amid interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, and Real Madrid.
A report from Belgium claims Arsenal are willing to spend £86 million on Yildiz, whom Arteta considers his dream signing due to his versatility.
Arsenal's Ambition
Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke confirmed the club's intent to strengthen: "When you win something, the sun's still going to come up the next day. You've got to get back to work... We're going to look to strengthen because we know teams around us are going to get better."
Yildiz signed a new contract with Juventus in February that runs until 2030, but the club's financial situation and lack of Champions League football could force a sale. Liverpool and Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation and could challenge Arsenal for his signature.
