Liverpool have been handed a transfer threat as Arsenal are reportedly planning a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola, who has been linked with a switch to Anfield this summer.
Arsenal's Interest in Barcola
According to the Independent, Arsenal are looking into the necessary details before lodging a bid for the French international. Barcola impressed during the World Cup on Tuesday night, coming off the bench to score his side's second goal against Senegal. Mikel Arteta's main priority this summer is to elevate the level of the attack, and Barcola has been highlighted as a target who could bring an upgrade to the starting line-up.
The report also suggests that Arsenal could potentially buy both Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa and an attacker like Barcola, who has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks as the Reds search for a replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool's Move for Victor Munoz
News of Arsenal planning a move for Barcola comes as Liverpool close in on a deal for Spain winger Victor Munoz. The ECHO understands that the Reds are on the verge of signing Munoz after agreeing to pay the forward's release clause. Munoz is expected to sign a six-year contract and complete a switch to Merseyside, beating Newcastle United to his signature.
Eddie Howe had been hoping to recruit Munoz as a replacement for Anthony Gordon, who moved to Barcelona last month in a £69 million deal. Munoz is currently with the Spain squad for this summer's World Cup in North America and was an unused substitute in their goalless draw with Cape Verde in their opening group match.
The former Barcelona academy player is primarily a left winger but is also capable of performing on the right wing when required, as has been the case during his time at Osasuna. Should Munoz move to Liverpool, he would become the first signing of Andoni Iraola's spell as head coach, appointed earlier this month following the departure of Arne Slot.
Other Targets
Yan Diomande also remains a target for Liverpool after impressing for RB Leipzig this season.
