Aldi Extends Baby Formula Price Freeze Until End of 2026 for UK Shoppers
Aldi Extends Baby Formula Price Freeze Until End of 2026

Aldi has announced an extension of its price freeze on baby formula, keeping Mamia First Infant Milk at £6.99 until the end of 2026. The move is expected to provide significant relief to millions of UK shoppers grappling with the cost-of-living crisis.

Price Freeze Extended to End of 2026

The discounter confirmed on Tuesday, June 23, that it will hold the price of its Mamia First Infant Milk at £6.99 for the remainder of 2026. This extends a previous commitment that was set to expire in summer 2026. The £6.99 price has been in place since June 2025.

Aldi says the freeze can help parents save up to £5 per tin compared with the average price of similar products elsewhere. According to analysis by The Grocer, the pre-promotional price of 157 baby formula products sold in major supermarkets rose by an average of 9.4% in the first two months of 2026.

Impact on Household Budgets

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has estimated that families could save more than £300 a year by switching to less expensive formula products. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: "Household budgets remain under pressure, and some infant formula brands are increasing prices. That’s why we’re extending our Mamia First Infant Milk price freeze until the end of 2026."

Ashfield added: "We know that every penny counts for parents, particularly during those early years, which is why we're committed to keeping this essential product accessible and affordable."

Regulatory Context and Product Details

UK regulations ensure that all infant formula products meet babies' nutritional needs, regardless of brand or price. Aldi says its Mamia Stage 1 First Infant Milk is "suitable from birth" and "suitable for combination and bottle-fed babies." The product should not be refrigerated.

Additional Support for Parents

The announcement is the latest initiative from Aldi to support parents. Earlier this year, it relaunched its Mamia New Parent Fund, offering £100 Aldi vouchers every week for a year to help parents with the cost of everyday essentials after welcoming a new baby. Parents can apply by emailing mamiaparentfund@aldi.co.uk with a receipt showing their latest Mamia nappy purchase. Full terms and conditions are available at the Aldi press centre website.

Aldi was also named Supermarket of the Year at the 2026 Mother and Baby Awards.
