Heavy rain and strong winds are set to sweep across parts of the UK tomorrow as a weather front moves in from the Atlantic. Rain is expected to reach Ireland and Northern Ireland first at around 6am on Friday, September 18, before spreading across the west of the UK throughout the morning, according to forecasts by WXCharts.
Rain Spreads Across Western UK
By midday, the rain is expected to have reached much of Wales, western Scotland and western England, including Cumbria, Blackpool, Manchester and Liverpool. Parts of western UK including Scotland and England are forecast to have heavier rain, indicated by green on the weather maps.
By 3pm, a heavier band of rain is expected to be focused across northern Wales and northwest England, including areas around Liverpool and Manchester, highlighted by the green on the maps. Only the south of England is expected to stay largely dry.
Wind Gusts and Coastal Gales
Wind maps show gusts reaching up to 60km per hour across Northern Ireland, Scotland and parts of England, while areas further south could see gusts in the 40kmph range overnight into Saturday.
According to the Met Office, which differs from WXCharts, rain will move into the west through Friday morning, with many eastern and southeastern areas staying mostly dry. It will be windy, with possible coastal gales in the north and northwest, while temperatures remain near average for September.
Weekend Outlook
The Met Office's outlook for Saturday to Monday suggests it will remain windy, with showers heaviest in Scotland and patchy rain in the south and west. Sunday is expected to be drier and brighter for many, while Monday should be largely dry and warmer, although cloudier conditions and rain are expected in the northwest.
