Royal Mail has issued a service warning for 13 areas across the UK, saying customers in key locations could see slower deliveries. In a notice updated today (September 28), the company said it is continuing with collections and drop-offs nationwide, but acknowledged that some places may not receive the usual service.
Why some areas are affected
The postal operator said its standard aim is to reach every address it has mail for six days a week - including Saturday. However, it added that a handful of delivery offices can fall behind at times due to local challenges such as staff sickness.
Royal Mail explains: "We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors."
"In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive."

Apologising and listing the UK postcodes impacted, it writes: "We're sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We will regularly update customers on the offices most impacted."

- Wandsworth DO (SW18)
- Birchwood DO (WA3)
- Nuneaton DO (CV10, CV11, CV13)
- Ilfracombe DO (EX34)
- Golders Green DO (NW11)
- Warrington DO (WA1, WA2, WA4, WA5, WA55)
- Exmouth DO (EX8, EX9)
- Thornbury DO (BS35)
- Bicester DO (OX25-OX27)
- Houghton Le Spring DO (DH4, DH5)
- Bridge of Don DO (AB22, AB23)
- Reading East DO (RG4-RG6, RG10)
No collection or delivery dates
Royal Mail has reminded customers that there will be no collections or deliveries on certain dates. It says: "We deliver and collect your mail on most days of the year, including Saturdays."
"However, we don’t usually deliver or collect on public or local holidays." It adds that local holidays are subject to change. Below are the dates for no deliveries or collections.
For England, Wales and Northern Ireland in 2026: December 25 (Friday) - Christmas; December 26 (Saturday) - Boxing Day; December 28 (Monday) - Substitute day for Boxing Day.
For Scotland in 2026: September 28 (Monday, today) - local holiday in the G, KA9-KA15, KA19-KA30, ML1-ML12, PA1-PA13, PA20-PA28, PA30-35, PA37-38, PA42, PA45, PA60 postcode areas; October 5 (Monday) - local holiday in the PH1, PH2 and PH14 postcode areas; December 25 (Friday) - Christmas; December 26 (Saturday) - Boxing Day; December 28 (Monday) - Substitute day for Boxing Day.
