Moyes: Premier League must prove Everton aren't being picked on

David Moyes has called on the Premier League to prove it isn't just Everton who are getting picked on and revealed Vitalii Mykolenko has a chance of featuring against Hull City.

Moyes on Manchester City's financial verdict

The Blues' penalty for breaching Premier League financial rules was reduced from 10 points to six after an appeal just two years ago. All eyes are now on the Premier League after an independent commission found Manchester City guilty of all charges relating to breaches of the Premier League's financial regulations between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons.

City have already appealed against the verdict and claimed in a statement that the commission's ruling contained "clear material errors, of law, principle and fact and is unsafe". When asked his thoughts on the case, Moyes said: "I wasn't here when it was difficult for Everton, when things were bad.

"Looking at it now from where I am sitting, it looks terrible that we have been docked points and pay some fines and not that long ago. There's other things that have been going on - nearly 10 years ago - that have not been dealt with. I find that really difficult. I hope it's not just Everton who are getting picked on here. I think we get picked on by the referees and every other area as well."

Moyes praises City's contribution

Before he added: "I have to say off the back [of what he just said that], that Manchester City have helped to raise the level of the Premier League with the level of football that they have played. The managers and players that they have had have been unbelievable. All the managers that went to play against them had park the bus because they were that good."

Mykolenko and Norgaard injury updates

Everton return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Hull City at the MKM Stadium. Left-back Mykolenko had been considered a doubt for the game after picking up a minor injury while in action for Ukraine.

But Blues boss Moyes believes the defender has a chance of featuring, while Christian Norgaard is edging closer to being in contention for selection after resuming full training. He said: "[Mykolenko] has got a chance for Sunday, the extra day might help. We'll see. We've just got the England players back today for the first time, so hopefully they'll all be fit and ready to go.

"We had a behind-closed-doors game and we got [Norgaard] the first minutes he's had for a long time. He's making progress. I don't know if he's quite ready yet to be involved, but with our numbers being so short, it might be something I have to look at. If I had my way, I would certainly give him a good bit more time, if I could."
