The latest eruption of Mount Etna in Sicily has caused continued travel disruption, with all flights suspended at Catania Airport until 11.59pm tonight (September 28). This marks the third consecutive day that flights have been halted at the airport.
Red Alert and Ash Cloud
The eruption has produced an ash cloud reaching 4km in height, prompting a red flight warning—the highest level on a four-point alert scale. Passengers travelling to or from Catania Airport have been urged to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
