Thunderstorm Awakens Merseyside Residents

Loud rumbles of thunder woke residents across parts of Merseyside in the early hours of Wednesday, June 10. Between 3am and 4am, people were startled by bright flashes of lightning followed by loud explosions as thunder echoed through the sky.

Stormy Conditions Persist

Storms and heavy downpours have hit the region in recent days, keeping weather conditions unsettled for Merseyside. This morning, Liverpool Echo readers in areas such as Orrell Park, Huyton, Wavertree, and Moreton reported being woken by the crackling thunderstorm.

Residents Share Experiences

Laura Kirwin said: 'Two big rolls of thunder woke me up.' Sheila Sharp noted that her daughter and granddaughter were both woken. She said: 'Knew nothing until I got up this morning and my daughter said it had woken her up, it also woke my granddaughter up.'

Natalie J Edmondson also heard it. She said: 'I heard it and saw the brightest flash ever, thought someone flashed a camera.' John Peers added: 'Swear I woke up thinking someone was taking photos through my window. The flashes were unreal.'

Aimee Catherine Twist said the thunder was so loud she thought something had exploded. She said: 'I honestly thought it was an explosion.' Ros Evans thought it was a bomb. He said: 'It was horrendous here. I thought it was a bomb.'

Some Thought It Was a Dream

However, some readers did not realize the thunder was real, thinking they had dreamt it. Daniel Lewis thought it was just 'in his head,' as did Sara Chraihi, who said: 'Oh my God I thought that was in my head.' Emma Johnson said: 'I thought I was dreaming.'
