Meghan's UK trip sadness over security - insider

Meghan Markle reportedly felt a "lot of sadness" during the couple's visit to the UK in July because security concerns prevented her from joining Prince Harry at public-facing engagements. The Duchess had planned to accompany her husband on some of his official appearances but was ultimately unable to do so.

Family visit marked Invictus Games countdown

The family, including their two children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, travelled to Britain to mark the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. A source told People magazine that Meghan felt "a lot of sadness" at not being able to stand by the prince's side, adding that she is "very supportive" of Harry, as reported by Hello! Magazine.

During the visit, Prince Harry and his family were hosted by the King and Queen Camilla. The Duke of Sussex attended an event in Birmingham for the Invictus Games.

Security battle continues

Prince Harry reportedly wants to visit his family in the UK more often and is planning to lobby the Home Secretary over his security arrangements. His security detail was withdrawn after he stepped down from royal duties in 2020, and he has since been in a legal battle to restore it.

Last year, he lost an appeal against the dismissal of his High Court claim against the Home Office after the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures decided he should receive a reduced level of security protection while in the country. However, after the recent visit, Harry is reportedly determined to pursue the arrangements again.

Harry has previously argued that his children cannot "feel at home" in the UK if it is "not possible to keep them safe" there, and that he has been "singled out" for "inferior treatment" with his safety, security and life "at stake", reports The Independent. If he were to enter into a protection agreement, he could visit the UK more often.
