A huge fire broke out on an industrial estate in Newport in the early hours of today. Fire crews were deployed at 2.42am to Star Trading Estate in Caerleon, Newport. The site has been evacuated and all people have been accounted for.
Public warned to avoid area
Members of the public are urged to avoid the area to allow emergency services to carry out their work. Local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed because of smoke in the vicinity. A road closure is in place.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is working alongside Gwent Police and partner agencies to help ensure public safety.
Resources at the scene
According to South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, resources deployed to the incident include ten fire appliances, three water bowsers, an aerial ladder platform, and a range of specialist equipment. The service said the site had been evacuated and all persons were accounted for.
