A British Airways flight bound for London Heathrow declared a medical emergency mid-air and was forced to divert to Luxembourg.
The flight, BA711, had departed Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus shortly before 7am EEST (5am BST) on Sunday and was heading to London Heathrow when the incident occurred as it entered French airspace.
Emergency code transmitted
Flight tracking data shows the jet was cruising at 34,000 feet when the squawk 7700 code was transmitted - the international code for a general emergency on board. An immediate descent was then triggered to the nearest airport.
British Airways confirmed to the Mirror that the diversion was due to a medical incident on board.
Safe landing in Luxembourg
According to AirLive, the jet reported a "medical emergency" on the flight. At around 10am CEST (9am BST), the Airbus A321neo landed safely in Luxembourg.
The aircraft later departed for London Heathrow at 12.50pm CEST (11.50am BST) and arrived in the capital at 12.51pm BST.
