Lantic Bay, a secluded cove on Cornwall's south coast between Fowey and Polperro, has been named the UK's best beach to visit this summer by Uber, thanks to its crystal-clear turquoise waters and white sand and shingle beach.
Why Lantic Bay tops the list
Research from Uber found that, on average, Brits visit only eight UK beaches in their lifetime despite having around 1,500 to choose from. The transport company also revealed that one in five Brits (37%) is looking to book a staycation compared to last year, making local beach getaways even more popular.
Rather than heading to hotspots like Durdle Door in Dorset, Porthcurno in Cornwall or Brighton Beach, which are expected to be packed, Uber has named the top 10 UK beaches that Brits are keen to visit this summer. Lantic Bay topped the list, leaving visitors impressed.
Visitor praise
One holidaymaker labelled it a 'breathtaking hidden gem' and wrote on TripAdvisor: "Lantic Bay is absolutely stunning – one of the most beautiful spots I've visited in Cornwall. The walk down is definitely long and steep, so good footwear is a must, but once you reach the bay, it's completely worth it. Crystal-clear water, peaceful surroundings, and incredible views. It felt like a little slice of paradise. I would definitely do it again!"
Another dubbed it 'paradise in Britain' and said: "Absolutely amazing beach, well worth a visit. There is a good walk to get there from the car park, which involves a steep descent to the beach. My advice is don't wear sliders like we did wear trainers, as it's difficult to walk back."
What to expect
Despite the steep walk down, which takes around 20 minutes, it's worth it for the stunning coastal vistas and glistening waters, especially on a summer's day. There are no facilities at the beach due to its hidden location, so visitors should be prepared, but they will be rewarded with an unspoilt slice of paradise where they can paddle and soak up the sunshine without the crowds.

Uber's summer initiative
To help holidaymakers explore more of the British coast, Uber is offering discounts on rides throughout August with the code: UberSeaside. The initiative combines discounted train travel booked through Uber with discounted rides to cover the final mile to beach destinations away from popular hotspots.
