TUI, easyJet, Ryanair and Jet2: August Travel Advice Update
TUI, easyJet, Ryanair and Jet2: August Travel Advice

With summer holidays underway, over 350,000 Brits may hold invalid passports, prompting airlines to issue fresh travel advice. TUI, easyJet, Ryanair, and Jet2 have each outlined specific requirements for passengers ahead of August travel.

TUI's Passport Checker

TUI urges holidaymakers to use its online passport checker tool before flying. By entering holiday dates, destination, and passport details, travellers can confirm validity, especially for older burgundy passports that may breach the 10-year rule. Note that not all TUI package holidays use TUI's airline, so passengers should follow the guidelines of their actual carrier.

easyJet's ID and EES Requirements

easyJet highlights changed travel requirements for Gibraltar, with Brits now needing EES border checks. Photographic ID is mandatory on all domestic flights, and international travellers must present a physical EU/EEA/Swiss ID card or passport, along with any required visa. Digital versions may not be accepted. Passports must be in good condition and signed; UK passports issued after March 2020 may lack a signature, and those aged 12 and over must sign them to remain valid. Some countries require passports to be valid for a minimum period beyond the trip, typically three or six months.

Ryanair's Strict ID Policy

Ryanair accepts only valid passports or National Identity Cards for all flights, domestic or international. Driver's licenses and birth certificates are not accepted. Names on bookings must match travel documents exactly, though middle names and second surnames are not required. Passengers can check flight status via the airline's travel updates page.

Jet2's Entry/Exit System (EES) Reminder

Jet2 advises checking its travel information page at least 12 hours before departure, as entry requirements vary by destination, nationality, and document type. The airline recommends consulting the FCDO website for the latest rules. It also reminds passengers of the EU's new Entry/Exit System, which involves digital checks on arrival and departure, potentially causing longer wait times. There is no cost or pre-travel action, but delays are outside the airline's control.
