Texas Woman Vanishes in Scottish Highlands: Desperate Search for Leanne
Texas woman vanishes during Scottish Highlands walk

A desperate search is underway in the Scottish Highlands for an American tourist who vanished during a countryside walk. Leanne Bearden, 33, from Texas, was reported missing after failing to return from a stroll near the village of Tomintoul on Wednesday afternoon.

Her husband, Josh Bearden, raised the alarm when she did not come back to their accommodation. The couple were on a round-the-world trip and were visiting friends in the area, a popular spot for its scenic walks and rugged landscapes.

Major Search Operation Launched

Northern Constabulary has launched a significant search operation, deploying multiple resources to find the missing woman. Police search teams, aided by the RAF Lossiemouth mountain rescue service and search and rescue dogs, are scouring the remote and challenging terrain.

Inspector Tony McNaughton described the conditions as "extremely difficult," with snow on the ground and sub-zero temperatures. He urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward immediately.

Appeal for Public Assistance

Authorities are appealing to the public for help. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of the Glenlivet Estate, where Leanne was last seen, between 2 pm and 4 pm on Wednesday.

Leanne is described as being 5ft 3in tall with a slim build and long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a purple Berghaus jacket, black trousers, and walking boots. Her family and friends are said to be "extremely distressed" as the search enters a critical phase.
