Dog owners in Scotland can now treat their pups to a private swimming session at the country's only dog-friendly pool. Red Rover, located in Linnpark Industrial Estate in Castlemilk, welcomes dog owners and their canines to enjoy a one-hour swim together in a heated pool.
Unique Experience in Scotland
The experience is the only one of its kind in Scotland, with a full list of accepted dog breeds available on the website. The site states: "Our sessions are intended as fun swim sessions only and a safe place for you to get your pup used to the water."
Prices depend on the dog's breed and are divided into three categories based on size. Category one includes smaller dogs like Pomeranians and Pugs, category two includes breeds like Golden Doodles and Border Collies, and category three includes larger dogs such as German Shepherds and Bernese Mountain Dogs.
Pricing and Booking
It's possible to have two dogs swim at once, but neither can be in the third category. Prices for a category one dog with up to four people are £35, category two is £45, and category three is £55. For two dogs in one session, two category one dogs with up to four people cost £55, two category two dogs cost £75, and a mix of category one and two costs £65.
Red Rover warns that booking the wrong category will result in automatic cancellation and a voucher for the price paid. If the breed doesn't match the dog on the day, the swim will be cancelled without a refund.
Open Seven Days a Week
Red Rover is open seven days a week, with bookings available two months in advance. New dates are released on the first of every month for the following month.
Many dog owners have shared their experiences on TikTok. One happy customer, Janis Kane, brought her Boxer dog Kylo to help him become more confident in the water. She said: "It's an amazing opportunity to swim with your dog in the lovely warm pool with everything you need for a brilliant experience. Doggy life jackets are provided as well as loads of toys, what's not to love about it. And the staff were amazing too."
At the centre, visitors can also pick up doggy-friendly ice cream and there is a small 'playground' for the dogs to play.
