Saundersfoot named UK's best seaside town by Time Out

Saundersfoot, a coastal village in Pembrokeshire, has been named the UK's best seaside town for 2026 by Time Out, ahead of larger resorts including Hastings, Southsea, Folkestone and Blackpool.

Why Saundersfoot won

Time Out described Saundersfoot as "an energetic village with one of Wales' best-looking beaches." The publication praised its Blue Flag beach, harbour, and range of food, drink and tourism offerings.

Although smaller than neighbouring Tenby, Saundersfoot has developed a reputation as one of Pembrokeshire's most vibrant destinations. Its sandy Blue Flag beach sits at the centre of the village and attracts thousands of visitors each year. A busy waterfront of cafes, restaurants, pubs and independent businesses lines the shore.

Attractions highlighted

Time Out highlighted several attractions, including Catch Beach Club, MamGu's Kitchen, the Michelin Guide-listed Lan y Môr restaurant, Hwyl Outdoor Sauna and the St Brides Spa Hotel.

One guide contributor said: "Though far smaller than its popular neighbour Tenby, Saundersfoot is one of Pembrokeshire's most energetic spots." The magazine also stated that the village has "one of the most gorgeous beaches of any British seaside resort."

Recent recognition

The ranking adds to recent recognition for Saundersfoot. It has been listed among the UK's most desirable coastal places to live. Its beach has previously been praised for sustainability, and the village is established as one of Wales's most popular holiday destinations.

National Eisteddfod connection

The Time Out list coincides with preparations for the 2026 National Eisteddfod in Pembrokeshire. The festival, marking its 850th anniversary, is expected to attract visitors from across Wales and beyond for music, literature, comedy and cultural events. Time Out said the Eisteddfod would provide an added incentive to visit the county, combining cultural attractions with the coastline.
