New Newcastle flights to French Alps ski resorts

TUI Airways is launching new direct routes from Newcastle Airport to Chambéry and Toulouse-Blagnac next winter, giving travellers in the North East quicker access to the French Alps and beyond. The new services cut the journey to just over two hours, opening up iconic ski resorts and a range of cultural attractions.

New ski routes to the French Alps

The Chambéry route provides convenient access to some of France's most famous ski destinations, including Méribel, Courchevel, Val d'Isère, Tignes and Les Menuires. The Toulouse service opens the door to Andorra, known for its mountain scenery, authentic resort atmosphere and excellent value, as well as Baqueira-Beret in the Spanish Pyrenees.

Beyond the slopes, visitors can explore Chambéry's Old Town and visit the Château des Ducs de Savoie, or walk along the Garonne River and take an Airbus tour in Toulouse.

Things to do in Chambéry

In Chambéry, travellers can wander through the historic centre, with its narrow streets, colourful façades, small squares and traditional buildings. The Château des Ducs de Savoie is a key landmark, reflecting the city's past as the former capital of the Duchy of Savoy. Another notable sight is the Fontaine des Éléphants, built in the 19th century in honour of General Benoît de Boigne, featuring four elephant sculptures supporting a column.

Things to do in Toulouse-Blagnac

In Toulouse-Blagnac, the Aeroscopia Museum offers an impressive collection of aircraft and explores the history of aviation, located close to the Airbus facilities. Tours of Airbus give visitors an insight into aircraft production and modern aviation technology. Walking along the Garonne riverbanks provides opportunities for relaxing, taking photographs and watching the city go by.

The Newcastle to Toulouse service will operate weekly from 19 December 2027 until 5 March 2028, while Newcastle to Chambéry will run weekly from 21 December 2027 until 1 April 2028.
