Manchester Airport is preparing for its busiest summer on record, expecting more than 5.7 million passengers from July 17 to September 1. This equates to over 120,000 passengers daily, traveling to destinations such as Spain, Greece, Turkey, the USA, and Cape Verde. The airport saw a record-breaking June with over three million passengers.
Travel Advice and Metrolink Works
Passengers are urged to plan journeys carefully due to extensive Metrolink maintenance until August 2. No trams are operating on the Altrincham, Eccles, and Trafford Park lines. East Didsbury and Airport lines terminate at Firswood, with bus replacements in place. Trams run between Exchange Square and Rochdale, Bury and Piccadilly, and Piccadilly and Ashton-under-Lyne.
The airport reminds passengers to comply with the 100ml liquid limit in hand luggage, though new CT scanners mean liquids and electronics need not be removed. Parents should pack children's 'squishy' toys in hold luggage as they may be classified as liquids.
