With summer holidays approaching, passengers flying with Ryanair, easyJet or Jet2 need to be aware of the latest baggage rules to avoid extra fees and stress at the airport.
Ryanair baggage rules
All Ryanair passengers can bring a small personal bag, which must fit under the seat in front of you. This can be a handbag, laptop bag or backpack, and must not be larger than 40 x 30 x 20cm.
Additional options include Priority boarding with a second 10kg cabin bag, and checked bags of 10kg, 20kg (up to three), or 23kg (one allowed), but these come with extra charges. Infants have no cabin allowance but may bring a 5kg baby bag and two baby equipment items free.
easyJet baggage rules
All easyJet passengers are allowed one small under-seat cabin bag for free, with a maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20cm including handles and wheels. The bag can weigh up to 15kg, and passengers must carry it themselves.
Customers can pay to add a large cabin bag, which has a maximum size of 56 x 45 x 25cm and must fit in the overhead locker. It also has a maximum weight of 15kg.
Every customer, including children and infants, can purchase up to three hold bags. A standard hold bag is 23kg, but extra weight can be bought in 3kg units up to a maximum of 32kg per bag. Passengers travelling together on the same booking can pool their total weight allowance.
Jet2 baggage rules
Every Jet2 passenger has a 10kg hand luggage allowance as standard, with a maximum size of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. Passengers can also bring a small under-seat bag (max 40 x 30 x 20cm).
Passengers can bring a collapsible pushchair, car seat and/or travel cot free of charge. Infants get an extra 10kg allowance, and up to two items per child or infant can be brought free, each weighing no more than 32kg. Extra items or weight will be charged as excess baggage.
Passengers can also purchase up to three 22kg hold bags per person, with applicable charges.
