Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has completed his season-long loan move to Valencia. The 23-year-old had attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, including Serie A side Napoli, but it is the La Liga club who have secured his signature.
Elliott arrived in Spain overnight following a conversation with head coach Carlos Cobreran and underwent a medical on Tuesday. His contract with Liverpool runs until 2028, meaning the loan move will not conclude with him becoming a free agent next year.
Elliott's first words as a Valencia player
Speaking before the loan was made official on Tuesday evening, Elliott said: "I'm truly grateful for this opportunity. I'm going to play my best here. I know the club's history and I know it demands a lot of hard work. I'm going to give everything I have for Valencia."
He added: "To be honest, it all happened pretty fast. I was just waiting for the call and made sure I was ready to come here and play, which is exactly what I'm doing. I'm here now and looking forward to the weekend."
Previous loan spell and return to Liverpool
Elliott has now moved on loan on the last two summer deadline days, having agreed to join Aston Villa on September 1, 2025. Villa had agreed to pay £35m for the midfielder if he featured more than 10 times, but it quickly became apparent the club were unwilling to trigger that agreement.
As a result, Elliott was pushed to the fringes of the Villa squad and made just four Premier League appearances under Unai Emery before returning to Merseyside for pre-season training under Andoni Iraola. After being left out of the opening two games of the season, it became clear he would be allowed to explore other options.
Liverpool career to date
Elliott signed for his boyhood club in the summer of 2019 from Fulham and has made 149 appearances for Liverpool.
