The family of a man who died following a three-vehicle crash on the M56 in the early hours of Monday (August 31) has paid tribute to him.
Cheshire Police said the incident took place at around 12:50am on Monday on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 14 (Hapsford) and 12 (Runcorn).
The man, 38, was understood to have been walking on the motorway when he was involved in a collision with a black Dacia Duster, a red Kia Niro and a black Ford Focus.
Victim named as Krisstoffer Henshall
The man has since been named by the force as Krisstoffer Henshall. Believed to hail from Golborne, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following his death, Kriss’ family said they were 'heartbroken' by his 'sudden loss'.
"We are struggling to understand and process this devastating news," they said in a statement put out through Cheshire Police.
"He will be missed beyond words. We respectfully ask for privacy as we mourn his loss and support one another through this difficult time."
Police appeal for information
Detective Sergeant Russ Sime, of Cheshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family of the deceased.
"Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision are ongoing and as part of the investigation we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or believes they may have seen the pedestrian on the motorway prior to the collision, to get in touch.
"The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid our investigation. Anyone with any information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, quoting IML-2407733."
