Ghiloni's Cafe, a fish and chip shop in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, has been feeding locals for over a century. Located about eight miles from central Glasgow, the family-owned eatery serves fresh fish suppers, hot food, and award-winning homemade ice cream with regularly changing flavours.
According to local organisation Trails and Tales, the owners previously ran a fish restaurant on Union Street in the town and also operated a separate ice cream van during the 1930s.
Menu Highlights
The menu includes classic chippy offerings such as small and large fish suppers with flaky, lightly battered fish and hot chips. Other options include sausage suppers, black pudding suppers, scampi, and deep-fried pizza suppers. There is also steak pie with peas and chips, hot and cold rolls, toasties, panini, baked potatoes, soup, pasta, and French toast.
Desserts range from ice cream to waffles, fudge cake, and apple pie. Children's meals feature chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and sausage. A standout is the Breakfast Special at £6.65, which includes link sausage, bacon, fried egg, black pudding, beans, potato scone, hash brown, toast, and tea or coffee.
