Elliott's Difficult Start
Elliott left Liverpool this summer in search of first-team football after a loan spell at Aston Villa last season. He had 25 touches in the match but only one in the Barcelona box, with Hansi Flick's side dominating possession. The atmosphere turned sour as boos from Valencia fans rained down, followed by loud cheers after the final whistle. Thousands reportedly gathered outside the stadium, branding the players as 'mercenaries'.
Valencia, managed by Carlos Corberan, are bottom of the La Liga standings with one point from four games. Corberan said the club's new players, such as Elliott, "still need to adapt to the team."

Spanish media were harsh on Valencia following the defeat. Super Deporte gave Elliott a rating of five, the joint-highest for Valencia, but wrote: "He's slow and out of shape, but he has more quality than 99% of the players in the squad."
ElGolDigital praised Elliott's movement but noted he lacked support. They wrote: "He showed movement and vision, but no finishing touches or final passes, which is precisely where he will be judged."

AS described Valencia as "a side in a sorry state both on and off the pitch," while Mundo rated Elliott's second-half appearance as "consistent." Las Provincias slammed the overall performance, stating: "FC Barcelona thrashed their opponents, strolled around, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and practically without much effort."
