Arsenal's travel to Naples for their Champions League opener against Napoli was disrupted on Tuesday after a UK air traffic control technical issue forced the cancellation of more than 400 flights.
The team's flight was delayed, leaving players to remain at the club training ground before departing later for the airport. Thousands of passengers were left stranded across the UK as a result of the technical failure.
Delayed Arrival in Naples
Due to the disruption, the Gunners were not expected to land in Naples until around 9.30pm local time (8.30pm UK time). Manager Mikel Arteta was due to speak to journalists at a press conference in the city on Tuesday evening, alongside defender Riccardo Calafiori, ahead of their first European fixture of the season.
Passengers at Gatwick Airport's South Terminal in Crawley, West Sussex, were pictured after flights were cancelled on Tuesday because of the UK air traffic control issue.
NATS Confirms Recovery
NATS, which provides air traffic control services to 15 UK airports, said recovery from the technical issue "has taken longer than we had hoped" but is "resolved". However, thousands of people remain impacted by the delays and cancellations at UK airports.
