Manchester Airport has clarified its Escape Lounge dress code after a video posted online sparked discussion among travellers. The five-second clip, posted to TikTok and viewed more than 180,000 times, shows two women removing pin curls from their hair to gain entry to the lounge.
Policy Clarification
Several commenters on the TikTok claimed they had experienced the same issue when travelling through Terminal 2. Escape Lounges, located airside after security control, prides itself on offering a premium experience and is open to all travellers.
When asked for clarification, a spokesperson for Manchester Airport pointed to guidance stating that hair rollers or pin curls must be covered with a head scarf. The guidance also prohibits football or rugby tops, sports team shirts or shorts, clothing with offensive slogans, fancy dress including sashes or headwear, and clothing exposing midriffs or upper thighs.
Lounge Amenities
The lounge promises to turn airport time into an escape to remember, offering standout food and drink, comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, live flight information, and spaces to unwind or work. The dress code is in keeping with the Smart Casual policy, and the airport reserves the right to refuse entry without refund to anyone wearing unsuitable clothing.
