An Airbnb guest was left feeling like he was in a horror movie after discovering a hidden room beneath the floorboards of his rental. The man, who shared his experience on social media, found a chair positioned over a red wooden floor panel. When he moved the chair, he uncovered a hatch leading to a narrow staircase and a closed door below.
Unsettling Discovery
In a video posted online, the guest admitted the sight gave him the creeps. He said: "I rented an Airbnb and noticed there was a chair sitting over what turned out to be a hidden floor panel. I didn't go down there because it didn't feel right." The next morning, he claimed to hear footsteps coming from beneath the floor, though he couldn't be sure what the noise was.
He continued: "The whole thing just felt really unsettling. What do you think that space is for? And should I go down there because I'm really curious to see what's behind that door?"
Online Reactions
The video quickly gained thousands of views, with many commenters drawing parallels to horror films. One viewer joked: "Various Evil Dead films, Barbarian and The Cabin in the Woods have taught us that you absolutely should go down there and mess with any books, tape recordings and artefacts you find." Another shared a similar experience, saying: "We had a creepy cellar like this at a very old house we rented. The house was built in 1890. So that used to be where they kept 'cold' stuff and jarred stuff and what not. It was still freaky as hell."
Others took a more practical view, suggesting the space was likely an old cellar for food storage. While the man didn't specify the location, Airbnb advises guests to report any suspicious findings rather than exploring hidden areas.
