UK snow forecast: 12 counties face -7C freeze

Snow is forecast across parts of Scotland and northern England on November 12, according to maps from WXCHARTS, with temperatures dropping as cold as -7C. The wintry weather is expected to affect 12 counties, bringing a significant freeze to several regions.

Affected Areas and Temperature Lows

Snow could affect parts of Scotland, particularly the Highlands, Moray, Aberdeenshire, Perthshire and Angus. There is also a possibility of snow across northern England, including Cumbria, Northumberland, County Durham and North Yorkshire. Further south, parts of Lancashire, South Yorkshire and Derbyshire could also see some wintry showers.

Areas such as Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes appear to be on the edge of the colder weather, meaning snow is less likely at this stage.

Coldest Regions

The coldest parts of the UK are expected to be across Scotland, particularly the Highlands and Moray, where temperatures could fall to around -4C to -5C. Aberdeenshire and Perthshire could also see lows of around -3C to -5C, while Angus and Stirling may drop to between -2C and -4C.

Further south, Northumberland and Cumbria could see temperatures fall to around -1C to -3C, with County Durham and North Yorkshire potentially reaching -1C to -2C. Lancashire and parts of Yorkshire may see temperatures close to freezing.

Midlands Outlook

Across the Midlands, temperatures are forecast to remain slightly milder at around 0C to 2C. Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes could also see lows of around 0C to 2C.

Separately, the Met Office forecast for November 4 to 13 adds: “High pressure is set to dominate across the UK early in this period, bringing a lot of dry weather. Some places may start foggy, this slow to clear, possibly even lingering all day.”

Elsewhere, cloud amounts will be variable, but there should be some sunshine. Cloud may be thick enough at times for a little light drizzle though.

“For most, temperatures are likely to be close to normal for the time of year, though it will be chilly where any fog lingers. Some overnight frost is likely where skies are clear and winds remain light.”

“As we head into the following week, there are signs that more unsettled weather may return, but confidence surrounding this change is low.”
