UK Snow Bomb Alert: 42 Counties Brace for Wintry Blast Next Week
UK Snow Bomb: 42 Counties on Alert for Freeze

Britain is set for a dramatic plunge into winter as weather maps predict a 'snow bomb' will strike the nation next week, blanketing dozens of counties in a sudden freeze.

Widespread Snowfall Predicted

Fresh data from WXCHARTS, supported by Metdesk, indicates that significant snowfall will arrive on Tuesday, November 18. The meteorological event is expected to impact a vast swathe of the country, from the Scottish Highlands down to southern England. The morning hours will see Scotland bear the brunt of the wintry downpour, with the majority of the nation covered in white.

The cold snap will not be confined to the north. Areas of Northern England near Newcastle are also forecast for snow, while patches are predicted to appear around London, across Kent, and throughout Norfolk.

Temperatures Set to Plummet

Accompanying the snow will be a severe drop in temperature. The coldest conditions are expected in Scotland, where the Highlands could see lows of a biting -8C. Northern England, close to the Scottish border, will also feel the intense chill with temperatures reaching -5C.

Much of England will hover just below freezing, with large portions of the South dropping to around -2C. The Met Office has confirmed this sharp cooldown, with forecaster Simon Partridge stating, "It's certainly going to turn much colder over the next couple of days, there will be an eight to 10 degree drop in temperature." He added that the UK will likely see its first widespread countrywide frost on Monday morning.

Counties on Snow Alert

According to the detailed WXCHARTS prediction, the following counties should prepare for disruptive snow:

In England: Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Kent, Cornwall, Norfolk, and Suffolk.

In Scotland: A significant number of regions are on alert, including Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Argyll & Bute, Clackmannanshire, Dumfries & Galloway, Dundee City, East Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Lothian, East Renfrewshire, Falkirk, Fife, Glasgow City, Highland, Inverclyde, Midlothian, Moray, North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, Orkney Islands, Perth & Kinross, Renfrewshire, Scottish Borders, Shetland Islands, South Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, Stirling, West Dunbartonshire, and West Lothian.

The Met Office's outlook corroborates this, indicating that snowfall remains possible across the UK during the upcoming week, with the most persistent snowy conditions expected to hit on Tuesday and Wednesday. Snow is anticipated across Scotland, Northern Ireland, the North Yorkshire Moors, west Wales, and the moors of southwest England.
