The Met Office has named its fourth storm of the year, Storm Dave, which is expected to bring severe weather conditions across parts of the UK over the Easter weekend. The storm will bring very strong winds to northern regions from Saturday evening into Easter Sunday.
Wind gusts of 60 to 70mph are forecast for parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, north Wales, and northern England, with the potential for gusts of up to 90mph in some exposed coastal locations in Scotland. A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued for these areas.
In addition to the strong winds, a yellow warning for snow will be in effect from 3pm on Saturday until 3am on Sunday for north-west Scotland. Heavy snowfall is possible above 200 metres, with accumulations of 10 to 20cm expected in the hills, leading to blizzard conditions.
Deputy Chief Forecaster Tom Crabtree advised the public to prepare their properties for the strong winds and stay updated with the latest forecasts, as warnings may be updated. The storm will also bring heavy rain as it moves eastwards across the UK.
