The BBC has apologised after viewers complained they couldn't understand Scottish weather presenter Judith Ralston, blaming a technical issue with audio levels.
The 58-year-old, who has been part of BBC Scotland since 1999, made her UK debut last week to deliver the latest weather forecast. However, when people rushed to complain that they couldn't understand her, blaming her strong accent and low audio, the BBC have recently addressed the issue, reports the Daily Record.
Technical issue resolved
In a statement, they said: "Unfortunately, a technical issue affected some of Judith Ralston's weather forecasts during the first week of August, causing the audio levels to be lower than intended."
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and are pleased to confirm that the issue has now been fully resolved."
Viewer reactions on X
During the forecast, people took to X to air their grievances, with one person blasting the star for 'mumbling' along with having a 'hard accent'. Someone else agreed, stating they 'can't understand a word' due to the 'muttering', while another called her 'incomprehensible', sharing that the presenter was talking extremely quietly.
Although Scottish fans rushed to her defence, as one person reeled: "How dare they? Judith is a legend of TV meteorology." Another person added: "I think @JudithRalston has a beautiful & very clear speaking voice."
While a third commented: "Judith's not new. She's been doing this for years and speaks very clearly indeed. Very easy to understand her."
Judith's London week
Recently, Judith shared some behind-the-scenes snaps of her time working in London on Instagram, calling it a 'privilege' to work with some of the best teams. She captioned the post: "I have just had the most interesting week in London working at New Broadcasting House - the mothership, presenting the National weather."
"I had the privilege of working with the best teams who are kind and generous and very talented. Some of the pictures here the forecasters who work behind the scenes, we work with them too in Glasgow. It's one big weather family."
