The maps, which show the UK covered in dark red, predict that on Thursday, July 30, at 6pm, parts of the country will see temperatures soar to 34°C.
Regional Temperature Breakdown
London and vast areas of southern England will see temperatures ranging from 28°C to 34°C, making them the hottest regions. The Midlands will experience slightly cooler conditions, with temperatures between 24°C and 32°C. In the north of England, temperatures will be cooler, with lows of 13°C and highs of 26°C.
Wales will see a wide range, from 18°C in the north to 33°C in the south. Scotland will remain the coolest part of the UK, with temperatures between 13°C and 19°C, while Northern Ireland will see temperatures ranging from 17°C to 21°C.
Heatwave Continues into August
The hot weather is expected to persist into August, with maps for Saturday, August 1, showing high temperatures across parts of the UK and mainland Europe. The heat is being drawn from the continent, which will also experience scorching conditions.
Met Office Five-Day Forecast
According to the Met Office, the outlook for the coming days remains settled. For Tuesday, July 21, the forecast states: "Largely dry with sunny spells for many, although there will be some showery light rain at times across northern coasts. Feeling warm in the sunshine, especially in the south."
For Wednesday to Friday, the Met Office adds: "Staying settled through the end of the week with patchy cloud and the odd shower in the north. Feeling warm or very warm in the sunshine and light winds."
