Spain's state meteorological agency Aemet has issued a warning for a new heatwave expected to start on Wednesday, described as “long” and set to “last, at least, until Sunday.”
Danger and Fire Risk
Aemet warned of “the risk of fire rising to extreme levels, hindering firefighting efforts.” The agency’s note also cautions of “a significant of even extraordinary level of danger” for outdoor activities and vulnerable groups such as the elderly and those with cardiovascular conditions.
Temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 40°C in several parts of the country.
