A British man has died after a tragic accident on a beach in Menorca, Spain. The 79-year-old holidaymaker reportedly fell and hit his head on a rock as he was emerging from the sea at Es Grau beach, a popular family destination near the island capital Mahon.
The incident occurred on Monday morning and was witnessed by the man's wife and son, according to local reports. A nurse and a sailor who were nearby provided immediate assistance, and paramedics attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary reports suggest the man may have fainted as he came out of the water, leading to the fatal fall. The massive head injuries he sustained are believed to be the cause of death, though autopsy results have not yet been released.
The victim, who has not been named, was a regular summer visitor to the area with his family. Es Grau beach is known as one of the most popular family beaches in Menorca.
