The Met Office has issued an amber heat warning for Merseyside as soaring temperatures continue to grip the region. The UK is experiencing a significant heatwave, with parts of the country recording some of the highest June temperatures on record.
Temperature Forecast
Temperatures are expected to reach around 33C on Thursday before easing slightly on Friday. The hot spell has already caused disruption across Merseyside and beyond, with rail services affected by the extreme conditions earlier this week.
Health Warnings
According to the Met Office, hot and humid weather is expected to continue over the next two days, likely causing population-wide health effects. The forecaster warned the extreme heat could lead to serious illness and, in some cases, pose a danger to life. People are being urged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and avoid exercise during the hottest part of the day.
