After another scorching week across Merseyside, many people will be asking the same question - when will it finally rain? Temperatures have soared across the region this week, with Liverpool experiencing another spell of hot and sunny weather.
Amber heat-health alert issued
An amber heat-health alert was issued for the North West, with temperatures reaching the low 30s at the height of the hot spell. But the latest forecast suggests a very different picture is on the way, with cooler and wetter weather expected to arrive in the days ahead.
According to BBC Weather, Monday, August 17 is currently forecast to bring light rain and a gentle breeze to Liverpool, a noticeable change from the sunshine and heat seen over the past week.
Wetter spell expected
And the wet weather may not be a one-day affair. The BBC forecast currently shows rain continuing on a number of days for the nine days following Monday, meaning Merseyside could be in for a much wetter spell after the recent run of scorching conditions.
The change will come after a week which saw temperatures climb rapidly. Earlier this week, the Met Office forecast temperatures of up to 32C in Liverpool, with strong sunshine expected across Merseyside.
Temperatures to fall
Forecasters said temperatures would rise "rapidly" on Wednesday morning, with conditions expected to feel "very warm and locally hot". The North West was also placed under an amber heat-health alert by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), with the warning remaining in place until Friday, August 14.
As the weekend approaches, temperatures are expected to fall back towards the low 20s. The Met Office previously said: "Very warm or hot on Thursday with plenty of strong sunshine. Turning a little fresher and cloudier from Friday with perhaps the odd shower."
That means the dramatic shift from heat to rain could begin as early as next week, with more unsettled conditions forecast to follow.
