UK weather maps show temperatures climbing to 35C next week, with a heatwave expected from Monday to Friday. The warm spell will begin at the end of July, with further warm spells anticipated in August.
Temperatures by day
On Monday, some areas of the West Midlands will reach 30C. Six areas across the country will climb above 30C over the week. Tuesday sees much of the East of England at 33C, with London reaching 32C. In Wales, temperatures will increase to highs of 29C.
Wednesday morning will be sunny, with Cambridgeshire climbing to 34C. Throughout the day, London and East Sussex can also expect 34C heat. Thursday sees Berkshire climbing to 35C, while London and the home counties reach 34C and 33C. The South West will reach 30C, and parts of the East Midlands will climb to 31C.
Friday and areas affected
Friday will be slightly cooler in some areas: Norfolk and Suffolk remain at 34C, while London sees highs of 32C. Several areas will experience temperatures above 30°C for at least four consecutive days.
The areas reaching 30C are: South West, South East, London, Anglia, East Midlands, and West Midlands. The Met Office forecast for this period states: "Temperatures will be broadly above normal and will probably be warm or even hot at times in the south."
