A week-long heat spell is coming to the UK, with highs of 35C expected from Monday to Friday. Temperatures are forecast to start rising at the end of July, reaching 30C in some areas of the West Midlands on Monday, July 27.
The rest of the UK will remain in the high twenties at the beginning of the week, but areas across the country will climb above 30C over the duration of next week.
Tuesday and Wednesday Forecasts
On Tuesday, highs begin to climb as much of the East of England will sit at 33C, with London reaching 32C. In Wales, temperatures will also increase, with weather maps showing highs of 29C.
On Wednesday morning, the sun will continue to shine, with Cambridgeshire expecting the warmest spell at 34C. The peak of the heat will be felt in the South East of England as the weather map turns a deeper red. Throughout the day, temperatures will shift as London also welcomes 34C alongside East Sussex.
Hottest Day on Thursday
The hottest day is expected to be on Thursday as Berkshire is forecast to reach 35C. London and the home counties are predicted to bake in much of the heat, with 34C and 33C elsewhere. Areas in the South West will also reach 30C, as part of the East Midlands climbs to 31C.
Friday and Areas Affected
Friday will then slightly cool for some areas, but in Norfolk and Suffolk the temperature is likely to remain at 34C. In London, those in the capital can expect to see highs of 32C. For many areas, residents will feel temperatures above 30C for at least four consecutive days.
Areas expected to reach 30C include: South West, South East, London, Anglia, East Midlands, and West Midlands.
The Met Office forecast for this period states: "Temperatures will be broadly above normal and will probably be warm or even hot at times in the south."
