The Met Office has confirmed that another heatwave is heading to the UK, with temperatures set to soar to 34°C in the South East by Thursday or Friday, lasting around a week. The fresh forecast from weather experts WXCharts reveals that sections of Britain could endure 30°C or higher for six consecutive days from Tuesday through to Sunday.
Temperature Forecast and Peak
The Met Office predicts temperatures will climb to 29°C on Sunday, before edging towards the low 30s during the following week and culminating in a scorching 34°C peak on Thursday or Friday across the South East. While it's anticipated to be an extended period of sweltering conditions across parts of the UK, forecasters have noted that it won't match the intensity and mugginess of last month's heatwave.
Met Office meteorologist Becky Mitchell said: "We have got a heatwave on the way across parts of southern England and Wales. There will be highs of 29°C tomorrow (Sunday) in the south. At the start of next week we will see temperatures approach the low 30s. The peak of the heat appears to be Thursday or Friday, 34°C in the South East. By comparison to the heatwave we saw in June, this heatwave won't be as hot and humid, but it will be a prolonged spell of hot weather which lasts around a week."
Health Warnings and Precautions
Yellow heat health warnings have been issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), spanning the East Midlands, east, south-east and south-west of England, including London, plus the West Midlands, running from midday on Saturday through to 8pm on July 11. The agency warned that within the affected area, minor impacts on health and social care services are likely due to the soaring temperatures. This includes an increased demand for healthcare services by vulnerable individuals and a heightened risk to life for the same group. It also cautioned about a potential rise in water-related incidents, including dangers from cold water shock and drowning.
Southern Water has announced a hosepipe ban for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, effective from 12.01am on Friday.
