Weather forecasting models suggest temperatures could rise as high as 28C in some parts of the UK next week, with 19 counties in England potentially seeing 26C or more.
Temperature anomaly maps for the middle of next week show England shaded in areas of red and orange, especially in eastern and central regions, indicating where temperatures are expected to rise above the seasonal average.
Forecast details for Tuesday and Wednesday
The ECMWF weather model first shows temperatures rising to 27C in western areas on Tuesday, possibly reaching 26C across much of central England and the south-east. Temperatures could then rise as high as 28C in eastern-central regions on Wednesday, although highs of 27C are possible as far north as Yorkshire, according to the ECMWF model data.
In total, the data suggests 19 counties could see temperatures reach 26C or more across Tuesday and Wednesday. They are all in England.

The counties are Herefordshire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire, Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Surrey, and Berkshire.
Met Office and BBC forecasts
The Met Office has said some "exceptionally warm" conditions are on the cards on Friday this week, with 28C possible in the south-east. Temperatures are then expected to cool over the weekend, only reaching 22-24C in southern areas across both days.
However, some "very warm" weather may then return. The Met Office forecast for Tuesday onwards states: "Remaining changeable as Atlantic frontal systems bring spells of rain, showers and occasional strong winds."
"The wettest and windiest conditions will tend to be most frequent across western areas, with longer drier interludes most favoured in the far east and southeast, where it may be very warm at times."
BBC Weather also suggests above-average temperatures could come next week. The BBC forecast for next week states: "High pressure should linger to the southeast and east, with wind flows often from the southeast to southwest."
"As a result, temperatures are most likely going to be above normal when averaged across the week. Slightly cooler days are likely behind frontal systems but no major dip in temperature is expected."
