Weather experts are predicting that temperatures in the North East will rise during the last part of June, with forecasts showing the region could hit 28°C. While southern parts of the country may experience up to 35°C, the North East is still set to bask in warm weather over the coming days and throughout the rest of the month.
Forecast Details
Weather maps from the Met Office and WX Charts indicate that Newcastle will see temperatures reach 25°C over the next week, climbing further towards the last week of June. The Met Office describes the UK's weather as a forecast of two halves, with southern and eastern areas potentially reaching heatwave thresholds, while the north and west experience temperatures closer to average and more unsettled conditions.
Temperatures are expected to reach the high 20s widely, with the potential for 32°C in the south of England on Sunday and 34°C or higher on Monday. Conditions will remain noticeably humid, with spells of rain, some heavy, across northern and western areas. There is also a chance of thunderstorms across central and southern England.
Met Office Comments
Steve Ramsdale, Met Office Chief Forecaster, said: "From the end of the week, a marked north–south split develops. High pressure over mainland Europe will allow increasingly warm and humid air to build across southern and eastern areas, while lower pressure close to the northwest keeps conditions more changeable."
Gregory Wolverson, Deputy Chief Forecaster, added: "Some areas in the south and southeast of England are likely to see heatwave criteria met over the weekend, with the potential for temperatures to reach the low 30s in the warmest locations. It’s important to note that while temperatures may be high, we might not all see wall-to-wall sunshine and blue skies as there may be more cloud around. Coupled with high humidity, it may feel rather oppressive at times. There is also a chance of thunderstorms developing in places."
North East Outlook

Between Sunday and Tuesday, it will be very warm and humid.
Looking further ahead, WX Charts shows the North East routinely hovering in the mid 20s. On Saturday, June 27, temperatures are set to rise further, reaching 25°C at midday and 28°C by 6pm. Overnight conditions will remain warm, with Sunday, June 28, and Monday, June 29, both forecast to reach highs of 26°C.
