Tonight's National Lottery Lotto draw offers a life-changing £3.9m jackpot, with results due at 8pm. The accompanying Thunderball draw, at 8.15pm, offers a top prize of £500,000.
Since its launch on November 19, 1994, the lottery has distributed funds widely. Approximately half of ticket sales go to prizes, 28% supports good causes, with the remainder split between government duty (12%), retailers (5%) and the operator (5%).
The largest Lotto win to date was £35m, claimed by an anonymous ticket-holder in April 2016. More recently, a syndicate of retired Port Talbot Tata Steel workers won £1m on EuroMillions by matching the Millionaire Maker code.
Players are reminded that matching two or more numbers in either draw guarantees a prize. Both draws take place tonight, with results to be announced shortly after each.
