The Met Office has released weather maps showing 10 areas across the UK that will face rain on Monday, following a scorching Sunday with temperatures up to 33C.
Sunday is expected to bring warm and sunny conditions to much of the UK, with the Met Office indicating a fifth heatwave is on the way. However, spells of rain are forecast for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England, with isolated showers possible in the South East.
Monday's rain progression
On Monday, the weather becomes more unsettled for some regions. The wet weather initially develops across Northern Ireland, with Belfast and Londonderry seeing showers during the early hours. The rain then moves eastwards towards Dumfries and parts of southern Scotland.
By the morning, showers are shown around Kendal, while parts of northern England, including Newcastle, York, and Manchester, could also see rain. The conditions become more scattered as the day progresses, with showers appearing around Caernarfon in north Wales before moving towards Newtown in mid Wales. A small area of rain is also shown near Cardiff later in the day.

Despite the rain, the Met Office says cloud and a few spots of rain in central areas will clear southwards, leaving a largely dry day with sunny spells. The maps suggest the rain will be relatively limited compared with widespread dry conditions elsewhere.
Heatwave return
The Met Office warns that heatwave conditions are expected to return next week, with temperatures of up to 36C forecast in parts of East Anglia and south-east England by Thursday. Temperatures are expected to rise towards 36C, particularly across southern and eastern parts of England.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued yellow heat health alerts covering the East Midlands, West Midlands, South East, South West, East of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, and London. These alerts remain in place until 9pm on Tuesday.
