The Met Office has identified 20 towns and cities across England that are expected to reach temperatures of 29C or 30C this Friday, June 19. After a cooler spell earlier this month, a significant warm-up is forecast, primarily affecting southeastern regions.

Where Will It Be Hottest?

The highest temperatures are predicted for areas in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Greater London, Kent, Norfolk, and Suffolk. The mercury is expected to peak around 4pm, with some locations possibly hitting 30C. In contrast, the Midlands and northern England will see more moderate averages of around 24C, while Scotland may experience light rain in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Weather Leading Up to Friday

Wednesday, June 17, is expected to be warm and humid with a maximum of 25C. Thursday will be similar but slightly warmer, around 27C. The Met Office's outlook for Thursday to Saturday indicates mostly fine and sunny conditions, turning increasingly hot and humid toward the weekend, with a possibility of thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday.

Long-Range Forecast

From Saturday, June 20, to Monday, June 29, there is potential for very warm and humid weather in southern and southeastern Britain, with a chance of thunderstorms. High pressure is likely to build, bringing drier and settled conditions with above-average temperatures for most. However, brief spells of wet and windy weather from Atlantic low pressure remain possible.
